Our 2013 reunion was held at historic Carter Hall, in Millwood, near Winchester, in the Shenandoah Valley. "Tidewater Gentry Move West" was the theme.2013 Carter Society Reunion Group Photo We were honored tohear prestnatations by historianls Dr. Warren Hofstra and Dr. Sherry Nay. Nearby White Post was the home of Thomas Lord Fairfax, who controlled the Northern Neck Land Grant. We visited many historic sites in the area. Other activities included an evening of piano music provided by Andy Kozak, and a presentation about the Early Development of Clarke County, by Laura Christiansen, director of the county historical association. While at Carter Hall, we conducted a commemorative ceremony at the grave of Secretary of State Edmund Randolph, on the 200th anniversary of his passing. The society presented Distinguished Service Awards to several charter members in recognition of their contributions to the group. As always, we had the opportunity to spend time together and renew family ties.
