Civil War Sesquicentennial: Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War (1861 - 1865). How appropriate for our Carter Society to begin a reunion by going to The Library of Virginia for a tour of the library facilities and a chance to do family research. We toured the Virginia State Library and the Virginia Historical Society where the Thomas Carter Common Book of Prayer was displayed. We toured the Museum of the Confederacy, the White Housde of the Confederacy and serveral Civil War Historical sites: Historic Tredegar Iron Works, Richmond National Battlefield Park, Blandford Church and Cemetery, and Pamplin Historic Park National Museum of the Civil War Soldier. We also toured Shirley Plantation. Bob Lumsden presented "The Thomas Carter Prayer Book" and Rand Carter presented "Carters and the Civil War". Celebrating the 12th Annual Meeting of the Carter Society, a dinner was enjoyed at Westwood Country Club in Richmond.
